Staff Tax Accountant
CPA Collective is looking for a staff tax accountant to join our team! We are an innovative women-owned accounting firm offering a friendly, remote work environment and serious growth opportunities. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly motivated, tech savvy, and have a minimum of 5 years of experience preparing both individual and business entity tax returns.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Tax return preparation for individuals, partnerships, and corporations
Review bookkeeping and prepare required adjusting journal entries for tax return completion
Prepare and send client request lists
Assist in answering client tax and accounting related questions
Prepare quarterly projections and calculate estimated tax payments for businesses and individuals
Prepare sales and use tax returns
Prepare 1099’s
Prepare City Business License renewals
Research complex tax issues and document conclusions for review with engagement manager
Assist in developing efficiencies for tax department workflows
Job Requirements:
Educated in Accounting. Bachelor’s degree preferred
5+ years tax preparation experience preferred
CPA or CPA eligible preferred
Familiarity with California tax laws and regulations preferred
Experience with Quickbooks Online preferred
Must possess great organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to multitask and to prioritize your own workload
Highly motivated
Ability to professionally and courteously communicate with clients by phone and email
Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and Word, and a willingness to learn new technologies.
A team player, responsive, dependable, adaptable and with a strong work ethic and a “client service” orientation.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
Perform bookkeeping tasks for our clients, that consist of small to medium-sized companies.
Coding and approving bank and credit card transactions in Quickbooks Online
Monthly bank and credit card account reconciliations
Booking month-end journal entries
Maintaining account subledgers
Preparing month-end close and workpapers for manager review
Communicating with clients to obtain financial information
Assist tax department with preparing sales and use tax returns
Keep track of 1099 information and assist in filings at year-end
Job Requirements:
Experience with Quickbooks Online
Educated in Finance or Accounting. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2+ years of relevant bookkeeping experience preferred.
CPA or CPA eligible a plus.
Public accounting background a plus.

Staff Accountant I
CPA Collective is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with at least 3 years public accounting experience for our growing firm. The position requires an experienced professional with strong interpersonal skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, along with a strong desire to take on new challenges and responsibilities. The position will be responsible for working on multiple client accounts in a remote environment. The individual in this position needs to be able to work in a fast-growing environment and easily be able to change in between client accounts without pause.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Coding: Record daily financial transactions and complete the posting process (including assigning Customer/Vendor Names and classes, matching bank feed to QBO transactions, and adding attachments of support).
Accounts Payable: Review bills received from Vendors for accuracy including calculating the total amount due. enter bills to be paid in QBO, code, and attach supporting invoices. Provide job Senior Accountant/Manager with an A/P aging report of bills to be paid. Mark bills paid after Senior Accountant/Manager has processed payment.
Payroll: Prepare client payroll for multiple clients along with payroll tax filings/payments, perform monthly/quarterly/annual payroll tie-outs to general ledger.
Sales Tax and Business Filings: Prepare sales tax returns and business filings as needed for accounting clients.
Reconciliations of balance sheet and general ledger accounts - bank, A/R, eCommerce, A/P, credit card, loan, benefit, payroll, etc.
Assist with the month-end and year-end closing process – prepare working papers as support, adjusting journal entries, etc.
Review financials for coding discrepancies and make notes for client manager to review.
Maintain and comply with the highest degree of professional standards, client confidentiality, integrity, and personal conduct.
Job Requirements:
3 years of QuickBooks Online experience
3 years Full Charge Bookkeeping – knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
3 years Payroll experience
Strong computer and technical skills including QuickBooks, MS Outlook, Word, Excel and other various accounting software
Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, research, project and time management skills
Strong work ethic and integrity
Ability to multi-task, effectively communicate, and develop strong relationships with clients and co-workers
Keen attention to detail and demonstrated active listening skills
Base competency in tax returns, sales tax and payroll a plus, as well as working with
small businesses
Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Ability to research tax notices and draft responses for managers to review

Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables and advanced functions
